Redesign senior citizens' phone - study project, 6th semester, team of two
key sketch
The idea behind the sketch is the combination of an easy and secure grip with one hand while using the responsive, large touchscreen with the other hand.
color scheme
To create a positive relation to our product our color schemes are based on animals. The name of our concept is "Zwitscher", twitter in english. So we chose domestic birds. The first one ist a Jay and its beautiful browns and bright blue.
The Magpie, a beautiful and pride bird, lends us its combination of dark-blue, light-blue and white.
The small and lively Nuthatch is grey, orange and light-blue colored.
by-products
The basic set consists of one mobile phone, one small charging dock and the DSL-box. If desired you can upgrade to a base-station with display and similar functions to the mobile device.
construction
Important to this project was the CAD-model. The construction was done in Solidworks. Due to the target group the device has to resist mechanical failure. The ribbing also holds all components in place.
Moving parts like the surround-sound speaker are also designed as they were functional.
The internals are put into place and matching clips and holder are designed. Also the production and assembly steps are verified.
mold making
To prove the part could be made a mould was designed and tested for draft angles and simulated for material flow.
model
Premodels and the final concept were either shaped by hand or 3D-printed to ensure the right size and ergonomics. The final model was finished to imitate the finished product.
